We use your personal information to provide you with personalized service; to send e-mail alerts to you; to answer your requests; to process your membership payment; etc. You may choose to opt out at any time, which will cease all marketing communications from us.

Opting into our e-newsletter

Individuals who sign up or otherwise agree to receive VLT e-communications voluntarily provide us with contact information (such as name and e-mail address). We will never share your e-mail address and will always offer you the opportunity to unsubscribe from our mailing list by clicking the “Unsubscribe” or “Edit my profile” links at the bottom of the email.

Protecting personal information

Personal information from members, such as mailing addresses and names, are handled with sensitivity. We will never sell your name or personal information. Occasionally we share this information with non-profit organizations that have parallel missions. For example, we frequently complete projects with partner organizations, and we may share donor names with these partners. However, we will never share your personal information if you notify us with this request.

IP addresses and Cookies

The Vermont Land Trust uses your computer or mobile device’s IP address to help diagnose problems with our server, to administer vlt.org, and for statistical metrics used to track website visitor traffic.

Our website uses “cookies” (small pieces of data stored for an extended period on your computer, mobile phone, or other device) to automatically help provide better services. The “cookies” are read when you come back to our website and let us take you to the information and features you are particularly interested in. They also let us track your usage of vlt.org, so we know which parts of our sites are most popular, and allow us provide aggregate data about our traffic (not identifying you personally, but showing how many visitors used which features, for example) to outside parties. You can reject cookies or clear them by instructing your Web browser accordingly. Our website uses Google Analytics to help us improve the site and the content we offer.
