Vernal Pool Walk in Worcester
April 28, 1:00 pm - 5:00 pmFree
Thank you for your interest in the vernal pool event — like you many others were also excited to learn more about these amazing places. All spaces are full. We are not accepting any more registrations. Please sign up for our e-newsletter or follow us on social media to stay current on our events.
Curious about vernal pools and the amphibians that breed in them? Then consider joining herpetologist Kiley Briggs and VLT’s Allaire Diamond to visit a series of vernal pools on land protected by VLT in the Worcester area, and learn about the frogs and salamanders that depend on vernal pools.
The sites we will visit are not along existing trails, so be prepared to hike off-trail across hilly terrain for approximately one-half mile (and back). We are likely to see Spotted Salamanders, Wood Frogs, and Spring Peepers. It’s also possible that we’ll find Blue-spotted Salamanders – that would be an important discovery for the area!
The precise location will be determined based on spring’s progression. The number of participants is limited, so please RSVP soon. Kiley works for The Orianne Society, a non-profit working to conserve critical ecosystems for rare reptiles and amphibians here in Vermont.
