We’re taking important steps forward on the Bluffside Recreation Trail project.
A Project Manager has been selected to take us through the final engineering, permitting, and construction phases to completion! Hamlin Consulting Engineers was hired after a competitive Request for Qualifications process that included a local selection team. Vice President Benjamin Heath, a graduate of North Country Union High School, will be the lead from Hamlin and has already hit the ground running.
We’re now looking for an engineering firm to build the trail. The formal Request for Qualifications and related materials are on the main Bluffside page. Applications are due June 14, 2019.
Award for Newport!
There was more good news earlier this spring, when Governor Scott and the Vermont Outdoor Recreation Economic Collaborative announced a $35,000 grant that will go towards improving the trail through city-owned Prouty Beach. Jessica Booth, director of Newport Parks & Rec, accepted the award on behalf of the city. Newport has now been officially designated as an “Outdoor Recreation Friendly Community.” Congratulations, Newport! We’re so excited for the community and what this means for the future, and thrilled to be a part of it!
