Membership Spotlight: Megan Brakeley

Megan Brakeley

A graduate of Yale's School of Forestry and Environmental Science, Megan Brakeley and her family live on the banks of Otter Creek in Middlebury. Only 50 feet from the water's edge, she knows that floodplain management upstream will keep her family's 209-year-old house safe from flooding.

Megan studied fluvial geomorphology and water resource management and says, "I can't help but be thankful that groups like VLT are in place to bring all these pieces--sustainable working land use, conservation, and a healthy respect for the power of rivers--together. Supporting VLT is the best flood insurance we can purchase." Thank you, Megan, for your commitment to conservation!
