Evidence for the saying that no two snowflakes are alike exists due to the work of Wilson A. “Snowflake” Bentley (1865-1931). Bentley, born in Jericho, Vermont, performed pioneering work in photomicrography—taking pictures of things not seen by the unaided eye. At the age of 19, Bentley became the first person to photograph a single snow crystal. Over time, he captured over 5,000 images of snowflakes at his Jericho farm.
