Help Create the New Middlesex Town Forest

Middlesex Town Forest

The Vermont Land Trust and the Town of Middlesex have come together to protect a beautiful 403-acre property as a new town forest (map).

To make this happen we need your help.

Eleanor Ott and Cynthia Steed have owned this forestland for nearly 20 years and now need to sell it. They wish to sell the land to the Town of Middlesex for permanent conservation - presenting a unique opportunity for Middlesex to create a town forest.

The Vermont Land Trust (VLT), the Middlesex Conservation Commission (MCC), and Friends of the Worcester Range are working to conserve this land. VLT has already received a grant of $271,000 from the Vermont Housing and Conservation Board (VHCB) and the Town of Middlesex has committed $12,000 from their Conservation Fund.

Tax-deductible gifts or pledges can be made online or can be mailed by November 30 to:

Please fill out a pledge form and mail it to the address above. Or call our office to donate over the phone.

For more information, call (802) 223-5234 and ask for Elise or Mark.

Middlesex residents have already donated $22,000.

But we need $18,000 more!

Please support this community conservation effort!

Town forests can be used for hiking and hunting, for education and wildlife habitat protection, and for timber management. Once the town forest is created, the town will develop a management plan to balance all these uses.

Also, with the conservation of this property, the possibility of an end-to-end trail across the Worcester Range takes a huge step towards becoming a reality.

Join us in working to making this conservation opportunity a reality.
