Membership

The Vermont Land Trust is a partnership of people working together to ensure that, as Vermont steadily changes, important land is not lost forever.

We participate on GuideStar, the online standard for nonprofit accountability. Take a look at our listing.

We are a private, nonprofit land conservation organization that helps farm families conserve productive agricultural land for future generations.

We protect forest land that supports a healthy wood-products industry and sustains habitat critical for black bear, deer, song birds, and other wildlife.

We help communities permanently protect irreplaceable fields, woods, and shoreline essential for recreation trails and scenic enjoyment.

Acre by acre, day by day ... conserving land vital to our heritage and economic future.

We talk with people about their visions for the future.  Using a legal tool called a "conservation easement," our professional staff helps landowners to voluntarily limit development while keeping the land open for forestry, farming, and recreation. In most cases, the property remains in private ownership on tax rolls, with the peace of mind that it is protected now and forever.

You can chart the future.
Join the Vermont Land Trust today.

The benefits are many -- newsletters, an annual report, invitations to membership events -- but most importantly, as a member you will receive the satisfaction of helping to protect our beautiful, and vital, Vermont landscape forever.

Businesses and corporations that support the Vermont Land Trust receive public thanks that can translate into valuable publicity.

Because we are a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organization, our members have made many types of gifts to support the Vermont Land Trust. These often include gifts of appreciated securities, donations of land, and gifts that provide life income for the donor. These gifts both support our conservation programs and provide significant tax advantages to donors.

Matching Gifts

Many companies match their employees', board members’, or retirees' charitable contributions. Corporate matching gifts provide a way for Vermont Land Trust members to maximize their personal contributions and increase the impact of their gift. By taking advantage of a company’s matching gift benefit, it is possible to double or even triple your contribution.

This meaningful support makes a critical difference to our ability to protect the land, and all that makes it special, for future Vermonters. Please ask your human resources office if they match contributions and send in their matching gift form with your pledge. If your company has a phone or web match program, please indicate that you have made these arrangements when you send in your gift. Thank you.
