Managed Timberland and Forestland Conservation VLT seeks to conserve large tracts of well-managed forest land for their timber production capabilities, biological attributes and the multiple recreational benefits these lands often provide. In addition, VLT will occasionally pursue exceptional opportunities to conserve poorly managed lands. While the typical size of timberland parcels conserved under this program is 500-2,000 acres, in the last four years VLT helped conserve the largest and third-largest private timberlands in Vermont, the Champion International, Inc. lands and the Atlas Timberlands, respectively. VLT can not afford to conserve every large parcel of forestland in Vermont. Below is information about our selection process, the conservation easement language for large forested parcels and more.
Beautiful Flooring, Healthy Vermont Forests VLT and Vermont Family Forests (VFF) are teaming up with small woodlot owners to produce high quality, VFF-certified wood flooring. In purchasing this product, customers can be assured that the flooring came from carefully monitored, ecologically managed forests. >>More information For further information
