2007 Annual Celebration, Saturday, June 16,
at Shelburne Farms
Come to one of Vermont’s most spectacular
conserved locations for our Annual Celebration. Join us on one of six
field trips in the early afternoon and then rally with music, food and
friends of conservation.
Early afternoon field trips will cover dairy
farming, historic forestland, forestry and furniture-making, wine and
cheese production, river marsh ecology, in addition to a bicycle tour of
conserved farmland. Also, families may enjoy visiting the Children’s
Farmyard.
In the mid afternoon, the lively music of
the Lemon Fair String Band will keep people smiling as they enjoy some
of Vermont’s best pizza from American Flatbread and delicious fare from
City Market. Children are very welcome.

Visit the ancient ponds and wetlands of the Chittenden County
uplands. Bring your binoculars and look for peregrine chicks.

See what more than 70 years of hard work and a devotion to
stewardship can accomplish. Join us on an inspiring forestland
tour to one of Dick Rose’s conserved properties. Moderate hike.

Greensboro Conservation Tour,
June 3, 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Greensboro
See how the Vermont Land Trust, Greensboro Land Trust and the
Nature Conservancy have worked together to successfully conserve
over 2,500 contiguous acres in N. Greensboro. You will need your
own watercraft for easy paddling on Long Pond. Easy walk.

Walk with staff from the Vermont Land Trust, VT Forests
Parks & Recreation, and Fish & Wildlife and discuss land
management. The varied habitats make this an ideal spot for bird

Franklin County Bike Trip, June
10, 9:45 a.m. start
The 45-mile route passes through three large blocks of
conserved land and includes a section of the Missisquoi Valley
Rail Trail. Several farms are opening their barn doors for tours
and will offer samples of fresh milk straight from the bulk
tank. Advanced road-biking. |

Follow winding trails to a rock outcrop for a unique view of
the Mad River Valley. Moderate hike. |

Stroll the nature trail at Windmill Hill Pinnacle
Association Stephen Martin Memorial Wildlife Sanctuary. Learn

Walk sections of the town trail created in conjunction with

Wood’s Market Garden, one of Vermont’s oldest vegetable
farms, has been in continuous operation and selling to the
public since the 1920s. Owner Jon Satz will lead a tour of the
farm and greenhouses. Easy walk. |

Paddle and Bike Adventure, June
30, 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. Enosburg and Sheldon
Learn about farmland conservation and floodplain forest
restoration as you paddle down the Missisquoi and bike back on
the Rail Trail past conserved land. Bring your own bike and
boat. Intermediate – must be able to paddle and bike for several
miles. |
